Are you a serious aquarist? Are you amateur? Are you professional?
At first, his ambitious but inchoate new play follows the travails of a 14th-century English theater troupe as—in the face of poverty, persecution and the plague—it rehearses a pageant based on the Biblical story of Noah. But at the halfway mark, Harrison turns the action inside out with a metatheatrical flourish involving two of the actors, Michael Cyril Creighton and Quincy Tyler Bernstine both very good. It has a texture of real life that the medieval sections do not, and it mirrors, in that way, the emergence of personhood that the rest of the show is meant to depict.
An amateurfrom French amateur "lover of", is generally considered a person who pursues a particular activity or field of study independently from their source of income. The word amateur is normally used to mean: somebody who does something e. The opposite of an amateur is a professional. A professional is someone who has had formal training for something.
Online citizen science platforms increasingly provide types of infrastructural support previously only available to organisationally-based professional scientists. Other practices, such as creative arts, also exploit the freedom and accessibility afforded by the World Wide Web to shift the professional-amateur relationship. This paper compares communities from these two areas to show that disparate practices can learn from each other to better understand their users and their technology needs.
The South London Concert Series is a unique concert concept, created and curated by myself and harpsichordist and fellow piano teacher Lorraine Liyanage. Launched in Novemberthe series offers talented amateur pianists the opportunity to perform alongside young and emerging professional and semi-professional artists in the same formal concert setting. It soon became apparent that a number of our members were keen to perform in a more formal setting and so the South London Concert Series was born. My many conversations with professional pianists reveal, by and large, a great willingness to support and inspire amateurs, for we are all quite humble when we sit at the keyboard.
The Q code arose out of the need to communicate quickly and concisely when using Morse code, but its use has spread more widely than that, especially within amateur radio. As the terms have been used widely in Morse operation, their use also spread into voice communications as well. The Q code is an extensive set of codes covering an extremely wide variety of phases.
Several weeks ago the Director of iGEM my old boss asked me to drop by to chat. Randy also said iGEM would clarify the situation by making a press release regarding these changes, or at least describe them in an organizational email to the iGEM-interest email list. There is some good news: if you want to participate in iGEM in an amateur capacity, you can still do so by collaborating with a local iGEM team. This could help a lot with the fundraising for both the local diybio group and the iGEM team.
